We are a local church. First Presbyterian Church was formed on May 10, 1851, when 11 Christians met in the toll house at the south end of the bridge across the Fox River in Omro and committeed themselves to the new church as members. For over 150 years many people have met the love and grace of God in this church. We welcome you to this faith family.
The Presbyterian Church is a representative democracy governed by elders elected by and from the congregation. The Greek word "Presbuteros" in the New Testament means "elder" and refers to the church's democratic governing form. The Session is the local governing body.
The Presbyterian Church (USA) is a national and world wide church. This church is a membere of the Presbytery of Winnebago with the presbytery office in Neenah. We are called to be a worshipping, serving, confessing and sharing part of the global and ecumenical church.
We are called to be a community of faith in Christ where people experience the presence of God and demonstrate the new reality revealed in Jesus Christ. We trace our roots to the Protestant Reformation in Europe. Presbyterians are governed by scripture through the Book of Order and guided by the Book of Confessions.
