Central Passage
Matthew 7:1-6
Subject
"Misunderstood and Misapplied"
Description

"Judge not, that you be not judged." This is one of the most quoted and misunderstood verses in Scripture. It is often misused by both unbelievers and believers to silence correction or justify behavior. But what did Jesus really mean?

In this sermon, we explore Matthew 7:1-6 in its proper context. Jesus doesn’t forbid all judgment; instead, He calls us to exercise discernment without hypocrisy. We are challenged to lovingly correct others while addressing our own sins first. We are reminded that not everyone will receive the gospel, and that discernment is essential in how we share it.

As followers of Christ, we are called to live lives of grace, humility, and truth. Spiritual maturity comes from daily prayer, studying God’s Word, and seeking His guidance to navigate life in a way that honors Him. Let’s learn to judge wisely and love deeply, as Christ has called us to do.
